As some days I’d barely have time to eat. The pounds gradually dropped off and I wanted to look after my body properly, so I joined a gym and started eating healthily. I’m a size down now, but I have to work hard at it. It’s not just the way I look that’s given me confidence. Having music PR business and have finally met people I can relate to, who ‘get’ me; people who don’t laugh at my interest in comic books and don’t care that a bit different.
I haven’t stayed in touch with anyone from school – the idea of seeing any of them again fills me with dread. I think those tough times growing up have made me a more compassionate person. And these days I am proud of my heritage and embrace my geeky side. I’ve learned there is nothing wrong with being different. It makes me an individual. If I ever have a daughter, the most important lesson I’ll teach her is that no matter what, always have the courage yourself to be yourself.”
