Binding Comfort's.

Since the Fifties, fashion underwear has been steadily shrinking, eventually leading to the pain-inducing thong.
As it became the signatory undergarment of choice, this was for a generation of women. As the fashion house put it knickers should be where a girl can slide everything in sexily and with comfort like a flying buttresses that's backed by fortifying ones own tush. As it is most sensitive part of all luxuries. But now, suddenly, it seems the not-so-brief briefs are back. Actress and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has designed her own high-waisted range of underwear for M&S’s Autograph label this season, with Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly-inspired camiknickers boldly occupying the aisles of the stores’ lingerie departments.
But while Rosie, with her gazelle-like proportions, undoubtedly looks fabulous in these bloomers, what chance do mere mortals stand of looking anything other than a frumpy lumpy?
As Petronella Wyatt summons her inner Hollywood siren and intrepidly strips off to find out — while Charlotte Elliston, a buyer at luxury in lingerie retailing. Brevity is the soul of lingerie.
Or so we have been led to believe. Who can forget, after all, the horror of poor Bridget Jones when she realised Daniel Cleaver was about to see her ‘giant granny pants’ in the hit film?
Rigby & Peller, gives her ruling on which bra and big pants’ sets are, well now practical trend pants retailing at mere £100 a go and just befour your man goes running it his turn to buy ladies of fashion are back. Size 9/10 Rosie for Autograph, Bra , £22, Briefs, £15 (marksandspencer.com) As fashion house says When I picked up these silk briefs and bra, they felt luxurious and special.  This set really delivers on the bra front — under wired, it provides lift and support, with some enchanting lace and perky bows. The briefs are extremely high-waisted but cover any imperfections around my midriff.
Miraculously, they also lengthen my legs, thanks to the high cut.
They feel lovely on the skin and I could easily picture the young Brigitte Bardot running about in them. They also look much more expensive than they are. These silky knickers are perfect for evenings but less suitable for wearing all day. They’re brilliant for women with bigger legs, as the cut flatters a fuller thigh, and the nude-coloured lace makes them look longer. The lace panel will also avoid an unattractive VPL — but beware this pale colour if you’ve got a darker skin tone. They could be the best for shaping a but, but don’t tell the neighbours as it could be in for a taxation.
7/10 Freya bra, £18, briefs, £18 (freyalingerie.com) fashion house says one should be In love these sets. The briefs are cleverly cut to disguise imperfections. There are few embellishments, so they won’t interfere with the silhouette of your clothes.
It is almost impossible to wear high-waisted briefs with trousers because of the VPL but you could with these.  I also like the bra, which gives enough lift without being burlesque. These are lovely and light because of the sheer side panels. The clever combination of mesh and opaque breaks up the garment, which makes it look smaller. But the knickers don’t seem to give much shape to the bum. Best for a girl who wants a mistress to hide the other, without any sense or cleaver figures.
